Autumn Term 2017

During the first half of the Autumn term, Early Years have been building friendships with each other whilst exploring the learning in our environment.

Autumn Term 2017 Educational Visit

On Tuesday 5th December 2017 Columba visited Biddulph Grange Gardens. The visit included the following programme of activities:

• A magic present hunt through the garden
• A magic red robin walk in the woodland area
• Snack
• A visit to Santa who read a story, gave us a gift and a smile for a photo

Diwali Festival 2017

On Thursday 19th October 2017, Columba spent the day celebrating Diwali. We had lots of fun and learnt lots of new things.

• We drew Diwali Rangoli patterns with chalk using our gross motor skills.
• We created colourful firework pictures and learnt all about how Diwali is celebrated.
• We used ICT to create a Diwali picture.
• We listened to Indian music and created movement to music.
• We made clay divas......this was very messy!
• We re-wrote the story of Diwali with Sita and Rama.

Remembrance Day 2017

On Remembrance day we cut out poppies and wore them proud. We hand made print poppies and had small world knights and princes:

Anti-Bullying Day 2017

On Anti-Bullying day we.........

• Wore our odd socks proud
• Painted lots of different faces
• Learnt about all being different but equal
• Designed a jigsaw piece to make a whole jigsaw to represent our class
• Had circle time all about being kind to each other

British Values Morning 2017

On the 15th November 2017, Columba class participated in a British Values morning.

Democracy - We voted for what we wanted for snack

Rule of Law - We pretended to be Police Officers through role play

Individual Liberty - We had a show and tell with something special to us all

Tolerance and mutual respect for different faiths and beliefs - We looked at the country of India, learning about their food, clothes and style of dance.

Internet Safety Day 2018

-We spent the morning learning how to use a tablet safely and we wrote the rules down.

-We voted for our favourite CBeebies program.

-We took a photo of our favourite places in school.

-In our learning environment we explored different types of technology.

World Book Day 2018

Columba went on a Bear hunt during Work Book Day 2018, it was so much fun!

Spring Term 2018 Educational Visit to Wheelock Hall Farm

The visit included the following programme of activities:

• Learning about how to care for farm animals

• Learning the names of adult and baby animals

• Learning about life cycles of animals

• Moving in a variety of ways across climbing equipment

• We all enjoyed performing our Christmas Celebration 'Lights, Camel, Action' to our families at the church on 12th December 2017.

  A focus on Mini Beasts

  We had lots of fun at our Bug Ball leap into learning day, dressing up as bugs, making ladybird biscuits, painting butterflies and going on a mini beast hunt! It was lots of fun showing our parents our fabulous learning!
