Early Years Welcome Evening 29th June 6.00pm – 6.45pm 29th

On Wednesday 29th June we will be inviting Parents/Carers of children who will be going into our Nursery or Reception Class in September 2022 to come along to an ‘Early Years Welcome Evening’ on the 29th June at 6.00pm – 6.45pm. This is a great opportunity to meet the team who will be working in partnership with you and your child/children in September and to learn more about ‘a typical day’ in our Early Years classrooms.

If you require any additional information or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Yours sincerely,     Mrs. E. J. Pickford (Head teacher) & Team

Changes to the length of the school day

In September 2022 we will be moving our official opening time to 8.45am in order to meet the 32.5hrs a week expectation. This will mean that when your child returns to school in September at Squirrel Hayes they will need to be in school by 8.45am (the new official start time) and will finish their school day at 3.15pm. Please start practicing now at ensuring that your child is ready for the change and arrives at school on time. We have a number of learners arriving after 9.00am at present and so this even earlier start needs to be planned and prepared for.

Sports Day

Weather permitting we hope to hold Sports Day on Thursday 30th June 2022.

  • For our Nursery aged learners, their events will be taking place in their ‘Outdoor Classroom Area’ and will start at 9.15am – 9.40am approximately.
  • The rest of the school from Reception aged up will be taking part in their events on the School Field by the school Car Park. These events will commence at 10.00am. Parents are therefore asked to start arriving from 9.40am – 10.00am to give enough time for parents/carers to filter through and set up their picnic spots.
  • A viewing area will be created where parents/carers can come forward and watch their child’s race and then return to the picnic area.
  • The Picnic lunch will commence at approximately 12.00pm – 12.45pm. Parents/Carers are encouraged to join their child/children for this picnic lunch.
  • Parents/Carers can pre-book their child a packed lunch provided by the school kitchen. No hot lunches will be served on this day. Please ensure you provide your child with a packed lunch from home if the kitchen are not catering for them.
  • Parents/Carers are asked to bring their own picnic blankets or picnic chairs from home. Limited seating will be provided in the viewing area.

More details about Sports day will be following in a separate letter this week.
