Deadly 60

This term in Years 2/3, our topic is 'Deadly 60'.  For our topic launch day, we dressed up as different animals.  We started the day by orienteering around the school grounds to find pictures of animals.  We then sorted the animals by colour; how they move and then into the different animal groups - mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians.  In the afternoon, we designed our own 'Deadly 60' predators.

Educational Visit to Blue Planet Aquarium

Linked to this terms topic 'Deadly 60', learners from Years 2 and 3 went on an educational visit to the Blue Planet Aquarium.

On arrival, we walked through the underwater shark tunnel where we saw sharks, stingrays and fish.  Then we saw the fish and stingrays being fed by divers in the aquatheatre.  We toured the coral cave where we saw many different types of fish and even an octopus! We also saw various species of frogs, spiders and snakes.

Finally,we had a 'Jawsome Shark Talk' from a member of staff from the aquarium on sharks and we were shown sharks teeth and jaws!

We had a wonderful day.

In Year 3, we have recently been looking at 'Symbols of Worship' in RE and some of the key teachings of Christianity.  We focused on 'Love, Peace and Justice' and we listed metaphors for each of the teachings.  We then chose one of the areas to be the focus of our artwork which was in the design of a stained glass window.
